Source and Creativity – A Gallery of Creative Processes

4/Mar/2024 - continuously

How does the museum, with its collections and artefacts become a source of creativity? How can all of this inspire designers, creators, and developers to create new, innovative solutions? How do ethnographic objects intertwine with architecture, music, and software development? In the gallery of creative processes on the first floor, we explore four examples, where we can not only discover the power of inspiration but also become creators ourselves!

In this gallery connecting offices dedicated to professional museum work and visitor spaces, our goal is to showcase how artefacts can serve as a source of creativity. The display pays tribute to two former exhibitions, recalling the musical, graphic, architectural, and artistic processes that led to noteworthy creations. Furthermore, it emphasizes the collection and knowledge base of the Museum of Ethnography, which is accessible to everyone and has the capacity to influence the present and future, propelling change and innovation.

The majority of the presented works recall the REZIDUUM – The Frequency of Architecture exhibition in the Hungarian Pavilion at the 18th Venice Architecture Biennale, which was on display between May 20 and November 26, 2023. The exhibition focused on the new building and façade ornamentation of the Museum of Ethnography, Budapest, designed by Marcel Ferencz (Napur Architect). It consisted of a combination of sound, space, and light installations illustrating different cultural layers, from objects of use from the past to the new building and its urban context to contemporary music.
