Besides housing a comprehensive ethnographic collection from the Carpathian Basin, the Museum of Ethnography also holds an internationally renowned collection from a variety of non-European cultures. The ZOOM exhibition offers a unique view into the diversity of the items in our collections, by emphasizing their visual effects in a playful way, thereby inviting visitors to adopt various perspectives on the subject matter. Among other items, the exhibition places into a new context the oldest Székely (Szekler) gate in the world, as well as a dugout canoe from Lake Balaton, which is also one of the largest objects in the museum’s collection. The guided tour will put a special emphasis on prominent object groups from Hungarian folk art, and it will finish off with some highlights from the museum’s Ceramic Space exhibition, briefly introducing the world of folk ceramics from the Carpathian Basin.
